Recertification Update - Spring 2026
by Melissa Lassen BSN, RN, NCSN
In January, we welcomed several new members to the Recertification Committee. These individuals join our current team of auditors who generously volunteer their time to review recertification applications selected for audit.
Audits are conducted on a random basis to ensure that Nationally Certified School Nurses (NCSNs) continue to meet high professional standards. During the audit process, continuing education credits (CEUs) and clinical practice hours are verified for accuracy and compliance with recertification requirements. This process helps protect the credibility of the certification, supports ongoing professional competence, and ensures continued compliance with accreditation standards.
If you have questions about whether a specific CEU activity qualifies for credit, we encourage you to contact NBCSN prior to submitting the activity. We are happy to review the information and provide guidance. It is also recommended that applicants for recertification upload CEU documentation as credits are earned and include any supporting documentation that may be helpful should the activity be selected for audit.
