Outreach Committee Update - Spring 2026
by Angela Moore MBA, BSN, RN, NCSN, CDDN and Cynthia Hiltz MS, RN, PHN, NCSN, FNASN
Outreach through the State Liaison Program continues to play a vital role in expanding awareness and engagement across the NBCSN community. We are proud to share that 49 out of 50 states are now represented by liaisons, a significant increase from 41 states last year. This growth reflects the dedication of certified school nurses who are committed to promoting national certification and supporting their peers.
Liaisons serve as ambassadors for NBCSN—advocating for certification, encouraging professional growth, and connecting with school nurses across their state. At this time, only Kentucky remains unrepresented, and we are actively seeking NCSNs in that state. If you are interested in stepping up to serve in a leadership role, please complete this Liaison Application and we will provide you with the support you need.
It is important to note that each state may have up to two liaisons, so even if your state already has representation, there may still be an opportunity to get involved. Serving as a liaison is a valuable professional development experience and an opportunity to contribute to the advancement of the specialty.
Participation in outreach efforts continues to grow, with several new representatives joining and actively engaging in our February town hall zoom meeting. Liaisons participate in these quarterly sessions by sending in a brief report to update the Outreach Committee of things happening within their state and are encouraged to attend. We look forward to the next town hall, scheduled for May 19th.
We recently closed submissions for the liaison recognition award, and we look forward to celebrating the outstanding contributions of our liaisons when we announce this year's recipient. Feedback and ideas are always welcome as we continue to strengthen outreach efforts and support Nationally Certified School Nurses.
To further support these outreach efforts and strengthen connections across the NBCSN community, a variety of practical tools and resources are available to both liaisons and members. These resources are designed to enhance visibility, improve access to information, and support ongoing engagement at both the state and national levels.
