Authorization To Test (ATT)

PROHIBITED ITEMS

Do not bring any study materials into the testing center, such as study guides, reference books, or notes. Doing so is considered misconduct, and the Testing Center Administrator may report you for misconduct.

You are not allowed to take anything into the testing room, including, but not limited to, the following items:

  • Electronic devices such as cell phones, smartphones, pagers, and recording devices
  • Cameras
  • Briefcases or backpacks
  • Computers or computer bags
  • Handbags/purses, wallets
  • Digital watches
  • Books
  • Notepaper
  • Outerwear (coats, hats, sweatshirts)
  • Food and beverages (only water in a clear container is permissible)
  • Facial tissue
  • Pocket contents

Small lockers are provided for purses, wallets, keys, cell phones, pagers, etc. The lockers are not large enough to accommodate briefcases, backpacks, laptops, or large purses and bags. Do not bring large items to the testing center. Testing center staff will not take responsibility for these items. You will be asked to remove large items from the testing center.

Withdrawal from Exam - Two Options

Option 1: You can move your application to the next testing window. Candidates can move their exam application no more than two (2) times. Candidates must sit for the exam within one (1) year. There is no fee. To do this, please follow the "To Make an Appointment" steps above. After you have canceled your appointment, please contact the NBCSN office at info@NBCSN.org, or call us at 833.276.0986.

Option 2: Withdrawal from the exam

  1. If it is no more than 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment or the end of the testing window, you may withdraw your test appointment for a $75 fee. To do so, you must complete two steps:
    1. Contact PSI and cancel your original appointment.
    2. Withdraw your application by logging into your NBCSN account and completing the withdrawal request. $75 of your exam fee is non-refundable.
  2. If you are less than 24 hours prior to the end of your testing window or test date, you are unable to withdraw. You must appear and sit for the exam or all fees will be forfeited.

Remote Proctoring

NBCSN offers remote proctoring as an option for testing, but should only be utilized if taking the exam at a testing facility is not possible. While NBCSN is happy to provide this testing option, it is highly recommended that candidates take the exam at a testing facility. Remote proctoring is offered to provide a testing option if a testing facility is not within a reasonable distance for the candidate.

Please note that we are unable to reschedule exams in the event of technical difficulties, issues accessing the exam, or complications related to using a work or school issued computer. In such cases, your application fee will be forfeited, and you will be required to submit a new application and payment to test again.

Is Remote Proctoring Right For Me?

Things to consider before choosing remote proctoring:

  1. Do I meet the technical requirements? Please see the PSI website for more information.
  2. Am I comfortable with troubleshooting should a technical issue occur?

If you answered “No” to either of these questions, then the remote proctor experience may not be for you. NBCSN recommends you choose a testing facility.

If you have answered “Yes” to both questions, please visit the PSI webpage for further information. Be sure to read the webpage and additional documentation in its entirety.

You will need a camera, microphone, a quiet and well-lit room, and a clean area if you wish to utilize this testing solution.

PSI Remote Proctoring Information

Use of a Work Computer for Testing

Taking PSI exams on a work computer is highly discouraged and not advised due to potential firewall restrictions, administrative permission issues, and blocked software installations. PSI requires a secure browser that may conflict with corporate VPNs, security policies, and active background programs. A personal computer is strongly recommended for a stable, proctored experience.

If there are any issues with your exam due to your use of a work computer to sit for the NCSN exam, you will not be refunded.

Exam Application Transfer Policy

  • Failure to cancel or reschedule appropriately may result in additional vendor fees or forfeiture of exam fees.

Extenuating Circumstances
This policy does not apply in cases of documented extenuating circumstances, including but not limited to hospitalization, death of an immediate family member, natural disasters, or other extraordinary events as determined by NBCSN. Requests for exceptions must be submitted in writing with appropriate documentation and are subject to review and approval by NBCSN.

ADA Accommodations Request

Candidates requesting ADA accommodations will find a designated button within the application prior to submission.

If you did not select this option and require accommodations, please do not schedule your exam. Instead, contact NBCSN at info@nbcsn.org to submit your request. Be sure to include documentation from your medical provider supporting your need for accommodations.

Once your request has been reviewed, you will be notified via email regarding the status. If approved, a member of PSI’s Accommodations Team will contact you directly to assist with scheduling your exam.
