Recertification News - Fall 2025

Melissa Lassen BSN, RN, NCSN

These are helpful tips to ensure a smooth recertification process:

  • Make sure that you are uploading your most current RN licensure.  We are unable to accept expired licenses.
  • The credits that you are claiming should match the number of CEU credits on your certificate.
  • Each CEU certificate can only be counted one time during the recertification cycle.
  • Make sure that the CEU date is within the certification cycle.  We are unable to accept hours that were obtained prior to the certification cycle.
  • Make sure that your name is on the CEU certificate.

ANCC credit along with credit from boards of nursing, college and universities, state departments of health and education and authoritative agencies such as CDC and FDA are accepted.  National accrediting agencies for licensed counselors and social workers are also accepted for credit.

While not required, NBCSN strongly encourages NCSNs to include a variety of topics throughout the exam domains (content outline) when submitting hours of continuing education.

Professional activities such as precepting nursing students, presenting CE programs, writing professional nursing articles and being a member of NASN all promote and enhance the professional expertise of the NCSN. The NBCSN recognizes and supports endeavors that promote and enhance the role of the certified school nurse and grants credits for certain professional activities.

NBCSN strongly recommends that you include more than the 75 credits required, should one or more of your courses/activities not meet the requirements.

We are looking for additional recertification auditors that would like to volunteer with NBCSN. Training will be provided to you.  If you are interested in serving please complete the application here.
